The National Sports Commission, under the Ministry of Youth, Sport, Art, and Culture (MoYSAC), successfully organized an Anti-Doping Workshop on August 10, 2024, to disseminate vital information about anti-doping practices and the importance of clean sport. The workshop, which aimed to educate athletes and coaches about the dangers of doping, was divided into two sessions, each targeting different sports communities.

The morning session saw the participation from three Taekwondo clubs: Eagle Global Transformation Timor-Leste (EGT), Koni-TL, and Anin Fuik Taekwondo Club (AFTC). The attendees included athlete support personnel, international and national-level athletes, and emerging young talents. The session focused on the latest anti-doping regulations, athletes’ rights and responsibilities, and the crucial role of support personnel in ensuring a drug-free sports environment.

In the afternoon, participants from the Bobonaru Amateur Boxing Association (ABBA) and the Gymnastics Federation attended the second session. This group was composed mainly of coaches and international and national-level athletes. The discussion centered on doping and the practical aspects of anti-doping, such as the testing process, vigilance against performance-enhancing substances, and strategies for promoting a culture of clean competition within their sports.

The workshop underscored the National Sports Commission’s commitment to preserving the integrity of sports in Timor-Leste by equipping athletes, coaches, and support staff with the knowledge needed to combat doping. MoYSAC’s efforts to engage directly with the sports community are part of a broader strategy to ensure fair play and safeguard the future of Timor-Leste’s athletes on the international stage.
